Balfours & Co. designed 1933
Designed by British architects Balfours & Co., the building fused Art Deco aesthetics with a functionally brilliant layout: separate paths for animals and workers, with ingenious ventilation throughout.
Shanghai Creative Industries occurred 2006–present
Converted into a creative industry park as part of Shanghai's push to repurpose industrial heritage. The building's dramatic interior has since appeared in numerous films and fashion shows.
